Welcome to the Home of the Numerical Model Metadata |
|
The Numerical Model Metadata standard is an evolving international metadata standard intended for the exchange of information about numerical model codebases, the associated components and the models/simulations done using them.
By providing a standard convention for metadata describing the numerical codebase and its models/simulations, it is possible to extend and refine the ability of scientists to understand how the model output data was produced. and will provide clear, well-defined and flexible metadata to enable users to search, retrieve, difference and compare numerical codebases and their models.
What is the Numerical Model Metadata standard
The complete definition of a numerical model -- from the codebase and components used, to the model/simulation run, is described by:
- NMM Model -- which defines the actual model/experiment/simulation configuration done using the codebase components
We have used existing standards wherever possible within the NMM, rather than re-inventing them one more time. |
