of NCAS-Climate using data provided by the ECMWF under agreement with the BADC. The ECMWF operational analyses are extracted from the archive at a reduced resolution of T159/N80. These are compared with the climate as depicted by the full resolution (T159/N80) 45 year ERA-40 dataset.
It must be remembered that anomalies between the operational analyses and the ERA-40 climate can be due to several factors including observational differences, assimilation and forecast model differences and atmospheric differences.
Diagnostics for the previous month are normally available by mid month.
