#2866 answered North/South halos too small for advection. um_support ChrisWells
Description

Hi,

I've had a suite of UKESM (u-bg601) running for ~95 years, and it just failed on 21081001, with

[0] ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
[0] ???!!!???!!!???!!!???!!!???!!! ERROR ???!!!???!!!???!!!???!!!???!!!
[0] ? Error code: 15
[0] ? Error from routine: LOCATE_HDPS
[0] ? Error message: North/South halos too small for advection.

[0] ? Error from processor: 218
[0] ? Error number: 320
[0] ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

I followed the advice on https://code.metoffice.gov.uk/trac/um/wiki/KnownUMFailurePoints and turned on Max wind output and High diagnostics.

But I'm unsure what to look at now? Looking in cylc-run/u-bg601 I can see the job.err file in /log , but can't see anything to go from there.

I can see in /share/data/History_Data that the model got to 20181201.

Do you know where I should look to see the max wind and other diagnostics? And how I could use that to fix my problem and continue this run?

Cheers, Chris

#2882 fixed Puma Umui font issues ros ChrisWells
Description

Hi,

I'm trying to use the umui gui on puma, but when it opens, the font is too large to use (see attached screenshot). I tried this https://aufather.wordpress.com/2010/11/21/increasing-font-size-in-xming-server/ , and the suggestions here http://cms.ncas.ac.uk/wiki/UmuiCustomising (I made the .umui_appearance file in /home/ChrisWells), but neither of these changed this. This is the first time I've tried to open the umui since I changed laptops.

Do you know how I could fix this?

Cheers, Chris

#2891 fixed Model failing on PRELIM (maybe) um_support ChrisWells
Description

Hi,

I have a suite (u-bi374) which I'm trying to run. I've had very similar suites running, and they all give warnings (in file /home/d00/chwel/cylc-run/u-bi374/log/job/21500101T0000Z/coupled/NN/job.err) like

????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
?????????????????????????????? WARNING ??????????????????????????????
? Warning code: -30
? Warning from routine: PRELIM
? Warning message:
? Field - Section:19, Item:189 request denied.
? Unavailable to this model version.
? Warning from processor: 0
? Warning number: 258
????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Which is usually alright - it's because I've turned off interactive vegetation in these suites. But now it goes to

????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
?????????????????????????????? WARNING ??????????????????????????????
? Warning code: -30
? Warning from routine: PRELIM
? Warning message:

? Unavailable to this model version.

and crashes from there. This is the exact same point it normally gets to, but normally doesn't crash. e.g suite u-bi183, file /home/d00/chwel/cylc-run/u-bi183/log/job/21501001T0000Z/coupled/NN/job.err , I have the same warnings without it crashing.

Do you know what I should do to fix this?

Cheers, Chris
