#878 fixed xconv crashing during conversion jeff a.elvidge
Description

Hi,

During conversion of pp files to a netcdf file xconv crashes. Because of the large size of my .nc file I am using a beta version (I believe) of xconv here (/home/n02/n02/jwc/um/xconv/xconv1.92) to enable 64 bit offset .nc output format. I have used this plenty before for exactly the same kind of jobs without problem. I have tried deleting the file and retrying and have notices that it appears to crash when the new .nc file reaches a certain size (about 9gb). Could this be simply a disk quota issue? On SAFE, it appears that my personal usage is fine but that the n02 group usage may be at or over its limit?

Thanks, Andy

#326 fixed xconv crashes during convert jeff chollow
Description

I'm using xconv on chestnut, using 64-bit pp files downloaded directly from Hector. some files worked OK for certain fields, but converting OLR from the .pp files with the form *.pj* in the directory /net/chestnut/export/chestnut/data-05/chollow/oct4km causes xconv to crash after outputting about 6 or 10 times, with the following error:

xconv Fseek error: Invalid argument Error in xseek in get_data

There is also a popup window that says:

Fatal error in xconv, click on OK to exit. Error in xseek in get_data | OK |

This happens for any individual *.pj* file when converting OLR so it doesn't seem to be a problem with incompatibilities or overlap in time between different pp files.

Thanks, Chris

#530 fixed xconv bug jeff a.elvidge
Description

Hi,

I have noticed that, when converting UM output files to netcdf using xconv, the program crashes when I attempt to convert too many fields. I am attempting to convert many (up to 4-dimensional) fields which would create an nc file of perhaps ~4gb. The program crashes - immediately closes, creating the new nc file but not writing anything to it. Decreasing the number of fields to create a 3gb nc file appears to work fine, and is what I have done in the past, but i now require all the fields in one file.

Thanks, Andy
