#19 fixed lampos location jeff tea@…

Is the "lampos" program available on either the Reading machines or HPCX? What is the path?

#20 fixed creating a limited area model: guessing number of land points lois tea@…

I'm following the example in "Selecting a new LAM area" for the UM Users Guide. (note: the users guide says it is for v5.5, I am using 6.1 but can't find a 6.1 users guide anywhere). This is also job xcele on the Reading machines, with output in /hpcx/home/n02/n02/arbetter/um/umui_out/xcele.* on hpcx.

I used lampos to define a region as described and run the global model to produce the lateral boundary conditions and start dump; that all worked fine. But the next bit is to generate orography using the reconfiguration. According to the user guide, the reconfiguration should fail the first time since the number of land points is not correct, and it did. But there should be information in the output file containing the correct number of land points, and I cannot find this. The guide says to search for "SETCONA: Wrong number of land points" or "No of land points" and neither of these phrases are in the leave file.

Seems like I'm missing some information, or have skipped a step. Lampos is just a graphical tool; it doesn't actually generate a landmask or other ancillary files. Is there somethign else I should be doing? Or has the output of the LAM reconfiguration changed from v5.5 to v6.1 (so the manual is out of date)?

#21 fixed where are the start dumps? lois umdoc

Just a quick one - where are the start dumps on hpcx? I need 2006072800.T+0 and it's not in /hpcx/home/n02/n02/umx/dumps/weather/global where I thought it would be

Thank you, Caroline
