UKCA NOy stash diagnostics&NOx emissions

Hi Ross (or Luke)

I have been analyzing some output data from a previous run and I was wondering:

-if NOy = NO+NO2+2N2O5+HNO3+particulate inorganic NO3 and organic nitrates, it there the possibility I may estimate the single contribute of HNO3,PAN and the other gas in terms of dry deposition?
-I would like to evaluate the NOx and other emissions that are used by UKCA to run simulations. I found out that it makes use of the file /QESM_DIR/ar5_tropisop_n48_2000.anc. How can I have look at this emissions data?I tried to open up the file but I got the permission denied.

Hi Federico,

The diagnostics currently provided are quite basic, and give a general Ox budget where some of the terms have been lumped on output to save space. You can edit the asad_flux_dat.F90 file and create your own user STASHmaster file to include in the UMUI which would allow you to output more flux diagnostics which are more suitable to you. I can provide more advice as to how to do this if needed, but essentially you can copy one of the existing diagnostics in that file, change the STASH number to a free slot and change the requested species to what you want. You then make up an equivalent STASH file and request it as usual in the UMUI STASH window.

The full path is in fact $QESM_DIR/ar5_tropisop_n48_2000.anc, where $QESM_DIR is and environment variable (which is set in the UMUI Time convention and SCRIPT Environment Variables panel). The full path is in fact

The file can be opened using Xconv.
