#1222 closed help (fixed)

Porting my UKCA job on ARCHER

Reported by: fcentoni Owned by: luke
Component: UM Model Keywords:
Cc: Platform: ARCHER
UM Version: 7.3

Description

Hi,

I made several attempts to run both running with my working copy (xjmwc), and the release job xfvfd (my copy is xjmwa).Even though I manage to submit it, it turns out the jobs got stuck in the queue for ages. Archer did not compile and run them.

I ran with both my Hector .profile and Luke's one (as suggested by him) but it didn't work anyway.

Many thanks.
Federico.

Hi Federico,

Can you check your tic code please. qstat -f gives

comment = Not Running: PBS Error: ARCHER: User fcentoni is not in n02-ncas

Willie

Hi,

I got added to the group n02-ncas by Grenville but I don't manage to run on ARCHER anyway. Now I get this error (see xjmwc000.xjmwc.d14062.t171134.leave):

 UM ERROR (Model aborting) :
 Routine generating error: ASAD_FLUX_PUT_STASH
 Error code: 34321
 Error message:
ASAD_FLUX_PUT_STASH copydiag ERR: Yiýÿ

Could you help me out with that?

Many thanks.
Regards,
Federico

Hi Federico,

Could you give us read permission on your /home and /work directories, please:

chmod -R g+rX /home/n02/n02/fcentoni
chmod -R g+rX /work/n02/n02/fcentoni

Hi Federico,

You might find the UKCA pages on ARCHER porting helpful:

http://www.ukca.ac.uk/wiki/index.php/Bugfixes#Cray_compiler_on_ARCHER
http://www.ukca.ac.uk/wiki/index.php/ARCHER_porting

I think that your problem above is fixed by the first link above.

Thanks,
Luke

Hi Federico,

Unless you are particularly interested in the stratosphere-troposphere exchange of H2O, please comment out the following lines in UKCA_MAIN1:

! make sure that UKCA has not affected H2O field in all_tracers
! array when calculating H2O STE, otherwise changes in UKCA that
! are not fed back will appear as spurious changes.
      IF ((.NOT. L_ukca_h2o_feedback) .AND. &
           ((n_h2o > 0) .AND. (ALLOCATED(original_H2O)))) THEN
         fluxdiag_all_tracers(:,:,:,n_h2o) = original_H2O(:,:,:)
      END IF

and try again. Setting ATP_ENABLED=1 shows that this line is having problems, and I have seen this before with another job.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks,
Luke

Hi Luke,

I made that change and it turned out that the job got compiled and run for a while.
Looking at the .comp.leave and .leave files it looks everything OK. However archer didn't produce anything.

Many thanks. Regards,
Federico.

Hi,

I kept on trying on running on ARCHER but without success.
Last time I ran a copy of the Luke's release job xfvfd (xjmwc). Even in this case, it got properly compiled and run but I didn't get any output files on archer.

Could please check out?

Many thanks.
Regards,
Federico.

Hi Federico,

Can you take a look in your

/work/n02/n02/fcentoni/um/xjmwc/archive

directory and see if the files you are after are there?

Thanks,
Luke

Hi Luke,

there is not any /archive directory in /home/n02/n02/fcentoni/um/xjmwb
and /home/n02/n02/fcentoni/um/xjmwc either.

Thanks,
Federico.

Hi Federico,

You need to go to /work, not /home.

Thanks,
Luke
