Recent SST and sea-ice ancillaries?

For a UM vn4.5 run (96x73), I need sst and sea-ice ancillary files which are
based on observations/analyses and which reach as close to the present day
as possible. That is, something like the qrsst_pcmdi and qrice_pcmdi files
in /hpcx/home/n02/n02/umx/vn4.5/ancil/atmos/cl_9673, but with more recent
data (they stop in 2002). Can you tell me if any such files are available?

If not and I have to create my own, is xancil the correct tool to use?

Hi Ian

I don't belief there are any up to date sst/ice ancillary files available. If you were to create your own then yes I would recommend using xancil. You would have to have your input data in netcdf format for xancil to work.

Hi Jeff,
I'm now in the process of creating my own sst ancillary, and I'm trying to use a convsh script to interpolate the data onto the UM grid. The convsh documentation ( states that the command setmiss can be used to indicate that the data to be interpolated contains missing values; however, I don't see how to specify what the flag value that indicates missing data actually is. Can you advise?

Hi Ian

The value of the missing data should be specified in the file, e.g. the missing_value attribute in netcdf files.
