Problem building Recon on ARCHER

Reported by: swr04ojb Owned by: um_support
Component: UM Model Keywords:
Cc: Platform: ARCHER
UM Version: 8.5

Description

Hello,

I have been trying to run XINI#B, which is a HadGEM3-A job (an unchanged copy of XJLE#N). It compiled and tried to run the rcf step but failed saying it could not find the recon executable:

aprun: file /work/n02/n02/obrowne/xinib/bin/qxreconf not found

I had a quick look, and found that same error message in ticket #983 which advised to compile and build the reconfiguration executable. So in the UMUI I went to

Compilation and Run Options -> Compile & run options for Atmosphere and Reconfiguration

and checked the box marked "Compile Reconfiguration executable". That resulted in the model now failing in the compile step, as it could not build the recon executable, complaining of an error in the ukmo_grib_mod module..

IF (lhook) CALL dr_hook('DECODE',zhook_out,zhook_handle)
                                 ^
ftn-113 crayftn: ERROR UKMO_DECODE, File = ../../../../../../../../home2/n02/n02/obrowne/build/xinib/umrecon/ppsrc/UM/control/misc/ukmo_grib_mod.f90, Line = 109, Column = 34
IMPLICIT NONE is specified in the local scope, therefore an explicit type must be specified for data object "ZHOOK_OUT".
                                           ^
ftn-113 crayftn: ERROR UKMO_DECODE, File = ../../../../../../../../home2/n02/n02/obrowne/build/xinib/umrecon/ppsrc/UM/control/misc/ukmo_grib_mod.f90, Line = 109, Column = 44
IMPLICIT NONE is specified in the local scope, therefore an explicit type must be specified for data object "ZHOOK_HANDLE".

I'm not quite sure what to do next, so any suggestions would be very welcome!

Oliver.

Hi Oliver,

This is a bug which has been fixed in the branch:

fcm:um_br/dev/ros/vn8.5_GlobalAtmos6p0_grib_api_fix/src

Please add this to the User Modifications table in window FCM Configuraton ⇒ FCM Options for UM Atmos and Recon.

Switch off the following 2 branches or remove them from the table:

fcm:um/branches/dev/grenville/r13677_grib-rcf-fix/src
fcm:um/branches/pkg/Config/vn8.5_GlobalAtmos6p0_UKMO/src

Cheers,
Ros.

Thanks Ros. I'll be able to test it once ARCHER comes back online on Thursday morning.
