#1320 closed help (fixed)

job submission directory is missing

Reported by: swr04ojb Owned by: um_support
Component: UM Model Keywords:
Cc: Platform: ARCHER
UM Version: 8.5

I wanted to test the solution Ros had provided to #1314 (whereby I go to a job directory on ARCHER for a job I've already run and I type umuisubmit_compile to get it to re-compile).

The last thing I did before leaving work last night was to submitt a job (xinid) to ARCHER. I came in this morning and the first thing I did was to check that job. It had run* but the directory on ARCHER ($HOME/umui_jobs) that would usually contain the job submission files (in this case xinid-183194527) has disappeared.

I've seen previous job directories have stayed - I remember recently clearing out a bunch of older job directories. I am sure I have not deleted anything in the time between submitting the job and now. Is this something I accidentally "switched on" in the UM? Or is this something I should be directing towards the ARCHER support team?

  • the usual .comp.leave, .rcf, and .leave files have been generated in my $HOME/output directory and on /nerc/…/xinid/ contains model output of the correct time-stamp and size.

HI Oliver,

When a UM Job completes successfully the ~/umui_runs/<job-dir> gets deleted.
The ~/umui_runs/<job-dir> directory is only left if the job fails.

If you need to compile interactively due to the slow queue, then resubmit the job, delete it from the queue before it runs and then go into the ~/umui_runs directory.
