Problem ssh into puma using putty

Reported by: ahodgson Owned by: um_support

When I try to log into PUMA using putty from my home computer I get the following error:

Server unexpectedly closed network connection

When I use the same computer to log in when I'm in Leeds I am able to log in without any problems.

Hi Amy,

Can you try this again from home and then send me an email to let me know the time that you tried to connect? I can then look in the logs and hopefully see what is happening.

Hi Andy,

Unfortunately I'm back in Leeds for a few days. It was Saturday evening around 8pm when I tried to log into PUMA. Could it be something to do with my home IP address being blocked?

Hi Amy,

Unfortunately I cannot see your login on PUMA as I don't know the exact time you are trying to login. There were around 20 users on PUMA the time you were so it makes isolating the server you are trying to come from almost impossible.

Next time you are at home try to login again to PUMA and let me know the precise time you are doing this and I should be able to find your computer in the logs.

If you can log into Leeds from your home IP address and then into PUMA then this will be a workaround while we sort out why you are getting the error message.

Hi Andy,

I managed to log into Leeds and then into PUMA from my home computer. I tried directly logging into PUMA at 14.42 today (27th) but got the error message.
