Description

(1) In an attempt to create diskspace I did something incredibly stupid. From devt
rm -rf xcsb * (I meant rm -rf xcsb/*)
Is there a way to recover these files? I can always rerun and teh diagnistics output is in Leeds anyway.

(2) I also now have ancillary files for a 500m run from Peter Clark (JCMM). Unfortunately if I gunzip this (/hpcx/home/n02/n02/jmarsham/CSIP_500m400350D1.tar) I find that I am out of diskspace. Can my quota be increased please?

Thanks,
John

Unfortunately John there is no way of recovering files from DEVTDIR as this disk is not backed up.

The way disk space is arranged on the National HPC services is that there is a small amount of backed up disk HOME, where I have increased your allocation, but this space is a bit limited. Then there is a large amount (well largish) of unbacked up disk space. On HPCx there is the tape archive system as well which many people use as a backup to DEVTDIR. However NCAS is running out of allocation in every area of HPCx, not surprising really as HPCx is coming to the end of its contract.
