Description
Hi
I am new to the UM and would therefore like to run an old job, that was run on Hector, on Archer (I have copied it to my job xkwja). I have changed user id and email to my own and in the Target machine I have changed the "other machine name" to login.archer.ac.uk, while everything else was left untouched.
When I pressed save, process and submit I receive a message "qsub: Archer: Please use select/place resource selection language". The job does not go in queue (using "archer$ qstat -u lboljka does not show anything; and I believe it was not run in 10s) and the named .leave file does not appear.
As I am new to UM, I do not know how to fix this problem and would therefore be very grateful if you have any suggestions.
I would also like to ask whether it is possible to upgrade the model to a newer version.
Thank you in advance!
Best regards
Lina

Hi Lina,
It is not possible to upgrade a 6.1 job to a newer version. UM6.1 is a very old version which uses amongst other things a different configuration management system to the newer versions (UM6.6.3 onwards) which use FCM as described on the UM introduction course. To run at a newer version, which I strongly recommend unless there are very good reasons not to, then you will need to locate another job. Do you have any colleagues that could point you at a suitable job?
Also as a new user it would be much easier if you can copy a job that is near your requirements that has already been run on ARCHER. Is this possible? If not then we can offer help/advice on the changes required; unfortunately it is not quite as simple as just changing the target machine name.
Regards,
Ros.
