How do we handle jules branches for UM builds on MonSOON?

Description

Hi

I'm trying to set up a build/run job on MonSOON which reproduces a Met Office PS32 configuration. This is based on UM vn8.2. I find that it uses a pkg in the JULES repository on the Met Office system. It's not obvious to me where the JULES repository is on puma, or how I go about copying a branch (pkg) to it. Am I missing something obvious? Do I need to register as a JULES user (even though JULES is essential for the UM)?

Hi Pete,

The JULES repository URL is https://puma.nerc.ac.uk/svn/JULES_svn/JULES and can be referenced via the FCM keyword fcm:jules in exactly the same way as for the UM. By default all PUMA users can extract from the JULES repository, so if the branch that you need already exists in the repository you don't need to do anything. If however, you need to create any branches, let me know and I will create you a JULES account. The JULES repository is hosted in a different way to the UM repository as it was the official public repository and so the authentication mechanism is separate to the UM repository.

Cheers,
Ros.

Hi Ros

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, the JULES URL is password protected, so I guess I need a JULES account even to find out if the branch I need is there. (I'd guess it probably isn't anyway). Could you please create a JULES account for me.

Thanks

Peter

Hi Peter,

What's your email address? I just tried to send your JULES login details to the address (Surrey) your helpdesk account is registered with and got an undeliverable.

Cheers,
Ros.

Many thanks. I seem to have successfully copied a Met Office package to the JULES repository under pkg/Config. (For the benefit of others I was caught out by the branch create needing @um8.2 rather than @vn8.2 or even just @8.2, but all is now clear!)
