Description
Hi,
we've added two layer snow to the UM (for our own purposes). Is there a way of having two layer diagnostics/prognostics. Looking at the user-stashmaster description I can see ways of tagging levels based on the number of atmosphere, cloud, soil layers etc but not specifying the number of levels directly…
many thanks
Simon

That's sort of abusing the PFTs as the levels aren't PFT… Is that the best way? So no way of just specifying the number of levels…

Hi,
Yes, it isn't ideal. I suspect that the level type just needs to be a number. Types 1-9 are already defined. You could try using type '10' as your own.

Did by abusing soil levels — that seemed to be the best bet!
Hi Simon,
Have you tried looking at pseudo levels? You need to specify then level type, but I think this is somewhat arbitrary. You could treat it as a surface type. Set PseudoT to 9, PseudoF to 1 and PseudoL to 7. This will give a field valid on levels 1,2,3… These numbers are taken directly from the TRIFFID STASHMaster for PFT tiling.
