Replacing missing start dump fields

Description

Hi,

Following on from http://cms.ncas.ac.uk/ticket/1538, I was wondering what the standard method for replacing missing start dump fields is. Obviously some (e.g. aerosols) can be set ubiquitously to zero; however others (e.g. grid box size) cannot, which is almost certainly where my run is failing. Is there a repository of such fields? Or a script to replace them?

Cheers,
Kieran

Hi Kieran,

The Grid box areas in the original start dump for xkvua are all zero, so that shouldn't cause a problem in itself. I think you should focus on the differences between the original start dump and the new start dump. I take it that the model is still unstable at the first time step?

There are no repositories or scripts to my knowledge.

Willie

Hi Willie,

Yes that makes better sense than what I'd been doing so far. Having identified the missing fields presumably I either need to edit the new start dump by adding those fields in, or point the UM to them being in a different file using the Specification of User Prognostics menu. That said, I feel like I might be missing something absurdly simple as this seems like it should be a mundanely trivial task to perform!

Thanks,
Kieran
