Description

Hi

I have been running a job having id xlhcx which works successfully however when I try to run a copy of the job with added diagnostics (xlhcv) the job fails in the reconfiguration step.

The error shown in my $DATAW directory for file name xlhcd.fort6.rcfa.pe1 is:

User Prognostic File does not exist.
 File : /data/cr/cce/hadfo/init_chem/O3_N96L63_34001

 *****************************************************************************
ERROR!!! in reconfiguration in routine Rcf_Create_Dump
 Error Code:- 10
Error Message:- User Prognostic File does not exist.
 Error generated from processor 1
 *****************************************************************************

I am still not entirely sure what this error is suggestion. The 2 diagnostics I've added are m01s17i220 and m01s17i221.

Thanks for your help
Sara

It looks like you never ran a reconfiguration job for xlhcx (I don't see a rcf.leave file)? If you did, I think you would get the same error.

The error message you see here simply says that /data/cr/cce/hadfo/init_chem/O3_N96L63_34001 does not exist.

Do you really need to reconfigure?

Hi Grenville

You're right, I didn't run a reconfiguration job for the original one (xlhcx).

I am still confused when reconfiguration is required and when it isn't. I did go through one of the tutorials and it suggested that if no changes are required for the .astart file then I can omit this step. By adding in a new diagnostic in this case, I thought this would effect the .astart file so I switched on reconfiguration, however this is just my assumption and I stand to be corrected.

Thanks a lot for your help

Adding diagnostics often won't require a reconfiguration - you are just asking the model to write out extra data. Adding a new prognostic would be a different matter.

Try running without reconfiguring.
