Description

Hello.

Using ARCHER, I want to run a LAM at 12 km over Antarctica using the most uptodate version of the UM.

Is there an appropriate job which I could copy?

Andrew

The only LAM job we have been involved with recently is a UM 8.2 version - Willie has been running it over Africa with prognostic dust. It is based on the Singapore regional climate configuration.

Any good?

Hi Grenville,

Thanks for the reply.

1) Could you please give me the job id? Is is straightforward to switch off the prognostic dust?

2) All my previous LAM runs on HECTOR were vn7.6, which I believe was not installed on ARCHER (http://cms.ncas.ac.uk/wiki/Archer).

Best wishes,

Andrew

Andrew

The job id is xlhua. Switching off prognostic dust should be a case of a button click.

This job includes CF-netcdf output directly from the model. This can be switched off, also with a button click.

Hi Grenville,

Thanks for the job id.

Do you also have a global model run to go with it?

Best wishes,

Andrew

Hi Grenville,

Its quite important that I get a global model forecast job for ARCHER. See request above.

You may be on holiday, so maybe someone else could help.

I need to run the regional model to get timings which would affect the modelling methodology for a number of proposals I am working on.

Thanks for any help.

Best wishes,

Andrew

  • UM Version changed from <select version> to 8.2

Hi Andrew,

Try UMUI experiment xjpq (user 'umui'), which has build, run and reconfig jobs. You'll need to switch off the hand edit for the Intel compiler: we're now using the latest Cray 8.3.7 compiler on ARCHER, so this gets past the difficulties I had when I created the experiment.

Regards

Willie
