Error when submitting jobs from PUMA to ARCHER

Dear Sir / Madam

Every 2-3 times out of 5 submits approximately, I get the followinmg error message on the PUMA terminal when trying to submit the job via the UMUI:

bgerror failed to handle background error.
Original error: invalid command name ".buttons.quit"
Error in bgerror: can't invoke "toplevel" command: application has been destroyed

Whenever this error happens, the submit script gets stuck.

I have attached an image of the error message.

Hi Scott,

Do you ever close UMUI windows by using the cross in the top right hand corner? Often we see errors like this when that has been done as the window is closed down uncleanly. Always use the "close", "Quit", etc buttons.

Thank you for the reply. I have clicked the cross in the pass. I will use the close button in the future.

To repair this, do I just need to click to close button and reopen the UMUI?

Hi Scott,

Yes, to be on the safe side, do close down the UMUI and restart it; that will put it into a clean state.
