dearchiving on HPCx

Description

Dear Lois

I'm working on copying the data I want from HPCx to local disk. It's about 1 Tbyte so we can accommodate it here on disks that we've bought recently for the projects. I have now a fairly automatic process to do it, bit by bit. The only problem is the amount of space available on HPCx. It appears I can only dearchive about 30 or 40 Gbyte at a time without exceeding my quota, so that means it has to be done in an awful lot of small pieces. Could ny disk quota be increased to make this easier? Or should I be restoring the files temporarily to a filesystem other than DEVTDIR?

Thanks. Cheers

Jonathan

Hello Jonathan,

It is tough to find spare space on a mature system like HPCx but I have increased your $DEVTDIR allocation. As the disk space is so full, and can't be increased as it at the end of its lifetime, you may find that the group quota is reached before you reach your limit. Anyway I hope that this makes recovering data from the HPCx archive easier.

Lois
