Description

Dear helpdesk,

I require access to the PUMA Rose suite (roses-puma) repository in order to set up and run experiments on ARCHER under the ACSIS project. The instructions say that I should contact you with my preferred username, which would be atb299 (same as my PUMA account).

Many thanks,

Adam Blaker

Hi Adam,

I have just given you access to all the UM related repositories on PUMA. You should have received an email with login details.

The PUMA rose suite repository is now only really used for test suites and those early Rose adopter projects that came on board before the Rose suite repository (rosie-u) on the MOSRS went live. Unless there is a strong reason for putting suites in the private repository on PUMA all Rose suites should now be created in the MOSRS suite repository.

Can you also let me know which instructions you are following so that I can amend them? Thanks.

Regards,
Ros.

Hi Ros,

Thanks! In truth I think I'm fumbling about. I've been trying to copy a working suite from Chris Thomas at NCAS Reading (using "rosie copy puma-aa344"), but I hit a password/account issue. On reading I thought it was the MOSRS account that I was missing, but it seems that it was the PUMA rose suite account since I've now managed to copy it. Is it trivial to transfer a suite from the PUMA repository to the MOSRS one?

Thank you for pointing out that the PUMA repository is deprecated, I'll focus on using the MOSRS one and make sure that other project members do the same.

Over the next few months I will be copying a few ocean and coupled suites from MO staff. I don't have specific details yet, but all our computing resources are on ARCHER and most of the suites will be either from MO internal or MONSooN, so the first task will be to get them set up and running on ARCHER. Chris offered me a working example of an ORCA025 ocean configuration set up to run on ARCHER so I thought I'd start there.

Many thanks,

Adam

Hi Adam,

It is fine to leave your example suite in the PUMA repository. However, if you did want to move it then you can run the following command to copy a suite (puma-aa344 in this case) from the PUMA repository to the MOSRS one.

puma$ rosie copy --prefix=u puma-aa344

Sounds like all the suites you will be using in the future will already be in the MOSRS suite repository so that should automatically lend itself to using MOSRS for your projects suites.

Cheers,
Ros.
