XCM machine down?

Hello,

Since yesterday I cannot connect to the XCM machine on MONSooN. Yesterday I had a message that it was down so I didn't worry. But now I just have a connection timed out when trying to connect.

ssh: connect to host xcm port 22: Connection timed out

Is it still unavailable or is it just a problem with my login?

Hi Nicolas,

XCM is back up and you should be able to connect to it. I can login in ok. What machine are you trying to connect from?

Hi Ros,

I'm trying to connect from MONSooN.
Actually now I don't have the time out error but it's asking me a password and I still got the message that it's down for maintenance.

Hi Nicolas,

Ok, so you're on lander ok and then trying to run ssh xcml00? I need to know which part of the MONSooN system you are trying to connect from (lander, postproc, etc) and what command you are running?

Ha yes sorry.

So I'm on lander (nifre@exvmslander) and I got the error message when I do either ssh xcm or ssh xcml00

Hi Nicolas,

Just found this on the collaboration newsgroups….. There was a network switch failure yesterday and they are still working on parts of the system. I'd advise trying again after 11am.

The firmware patch on the XCM was successfully completed last night and the
underlying cause of the network switch failure has now been identified.

We expect to get the network back by approx 1000Z. We still have some work
on the HPC to complete after that, so the full XCM/Monsoon service will be
available by 1100Z today.
