Nesting Suite Output problem

Description

I am trying to set up Stu Webster’s Nesting Suite following his guide:

https://code.metoffice.gov.uk/trac/rmed/wiki/suites/nesting/worked_eg

It managed to run the driving global model but ran into a problem when outputting the data:

/home/tstein/cylc-run/u-ak165/log/job/20160930T0000Z/glm_um_fcst_000/01/job.err

It appears to have written 10Gb to my work directory so far and then ran out of space.
I intend to run several simulations at 4km resolution, approx. 500,000 grid points, for several days, so expect to require a lot more disk space (temporarily, I will eventually transfer it to Reading Met machines).

Additionally, I believe I’m over my quota for PUMA as well.

My directory um-extract is over 1Gb – do I still need this when running Rose/Cylc??

Hi Thorwald,

To save space on PUMA you could delete some of the contents of ~/um_extract if they are no longer necessary.

  • Platform set to ARCHER

Yes, in the job.err file for the task you've got

BUFFOUT: Write Failed: Disk quota exceeded

so this is on ARCHER. Is it possible for you to delete old data there? To enable us to see your directories, you should

 chmod g+rX /home/n02/n02/thmstein
 chmod g+rX /work/n02/n02/thmstein

Willie

I managed to run it successfully this time, and the output looks sensible. Thanks all!
