Deletion of superseded restart dumps

Description

Hello,
I'm running the vn4.5 UM on HECToR in Gregorian calendar mode with climate meaning, which requires that restart dumps be written every 24 hours. Although I have selected 'Delete superseded restart dumps' in the umui (Main Switch + General Questions), the daily restart files are accumulating in my DATAM directory and are never being deleted, presumably because there is no archiving. Is there a way to force their removal? If not, a long run is going to generate a huge amount of output.

Regards,
Ian

Hi Ian

Yes this can be done, you need to include a source mod

$UMDIR/PUM_Input/vn4.5/mods/source/general/xt4_archive.mod

and a script mod

$UMDIR/PUM_Input/vn4.5/mods/scripts/general/um_archive45_hector.mod

You will need to turn on full archiving otherwise all your files will be deleted. This will then move all your archived files to directory $DATAM/archive. This directory can be overridden be defining environment variable ARCHIVE_DIR in the umui. Look at puma umui job xctld for a 4.5 archiving example.

Let me know if you have any problems.

Jeff.
