Description

Hi Willie

I am trying to run a 60km grid spacing job (due to the resolution the Met Office saves the MOGREPS perturbation files) and i am having issues at the run stage. I am just trying to run it for 3 hours and then dump out and reconfigure to 25km but I can't get this initial 3 hour run to work.

Hi Sam,

The trace back shows that it fails while trying to read the land/sea mask, because none has been specified. Where did this job come from? Did the previous version work?

Willie

Hi willie

Ah I see ok the ancillaries I'm directing the job to that are on monsoon must not have a land sea mask then.
I tried todo this same job about 2 years ago before I was off ill and I never got it to work. I think I ended up making my own land sea mask though come to think of it.

Thanks

Sam

Hi Willie

I was wondering if you'd be able to get hold of the ancillaries I need for this job from the Met Office? I thought I was directing the job to the ancillaries itneeded but I must not be if there is no land sea mask. Which ones is it I need that are on monsoon?

Thanks

Sam

Hi Sam
For standard jobs the ancillary files come from $UMDIR/ancil/atmos and then the standard domain such as n216, which seems to be relevant for your job. The ancil versions need to be set up as per your Euro 4km job xiykb (but point to global ancillaries).

However, if your job is non-standard, then you will need to build then ancillaries yourself using the CAP.

Where does xnndf come from? Is it a MOGREPS-G job like xkffc?

Willie

Hi Willie

I am so sorry I just realised what you meant I hoenstly thought I had directed the job to the ancilliary files. I have directed it now but I realised I had not directed them in the reconfig job so I went back to that job (xnndd) and now that is having problems running
xnndd000.xnndd.d17195.t132315.rcf.leave
It says it failed in qsrecon but I can't work out what is causing it to fail. Do you have any idea what could be causing this?

Thanks

Sam

Hi Sam,

The ancil file names version file should be

/projects/um1/ancil/data/ancil_versions/filenames/v10/ancils

Sam

The start file /projects/diamet/saclar/xnndd/xnndd.astart appears to be corrupt (run it through xconv)

Hi Grenville

Ah ok the build job must have failed too.

Thanks

Hi Willie

I can't work out why the build job is failing (xnnda). It is this that is the problem as I thought because there were no errors in the output file that it had run properly but I think it hasn't as the .leave file is very short. This is why the recongif job is producing a corrupt .astart file.

Do you know why it would be failing?

Thanks

Sam
