Archiving on ARCHER /nerc

Description

Hello,

A question following this ticket: http://cms.ncas.ac.uk/ticket/2011
I'm setting a run with Rose for ARCHER, and I'd just like to archive the outputs on /nerc/ disk but not sure how to set the rose_arch for that. Would you have an example of Rose job I can look at to see how it is set up?
(I have copied a job that was running on Monsoon so it may not be ideal)

Also, just a verification: With Rose, all the paths like "$DATAM" must be specified in the .profile on ARCHER? Or is there a way to set them in Rose directly?

Cheers,
Nicolas

Hi Nicolas,

What's the suite id?

$DATAM is set within Rose and is usually cylc-run/<suite-id>/share/data/History_Data.

Cheers,
Ros.

Hi Ros,

The suite is u-av080.
OK I think I see where and how the paths are set now, so I should be able to process (but for now I'm still trying to build the um with some extra branches).

Cheers,
Nico

Hi Nico,

Regarding your question about archiving to /nerc. This is what the postproc app does. This suite is already setup with the ARCHER archiving included. All you need to do is switch on "Post Processing" which you already have in suite conf → Tasks to Run and then specify the directory on /nerc that you wish to archive to in postproc → Post Processing - common settings → Archer Archiving. Again you've already done this so the suite is good to go where Archiving is concerned.

rose_arch is just used to archive the wallclock time and output logs which we don't usually do on ARCHER. You can switch these off in the Tasks to Run panel.

Regards,
Ros.
