Description
Hi
I was trying to calculate the cloud liquid water path. I'm using UM10.6.1 and the item 'm01s01i242'. The item's description says it is 'diagnostic of layer cloud in-cloud liquid water content weighted by layer cloud amount'.
So do I need to divide it by the layer cloud amount or it's already the cloud liquid water content?
And the units of this diagnostics in the description is grammes per cubic meters, but the iris gives it units of 'g cm-3':
'm01s01i242': CFName(None, 'product_of_stratiform_cloud_liquid_water_content_and_stratiform_cloud_liquid_water_area_fraction_and_sunlit_binary_mask', 'g cm-3')
So what it the correct unit?
Many thanks
Haochi

Hi Haochi,
You might be able to get further information from the cloud scheme documents (UMDP 29, 30) at https://code.metoffice.gov.uk/doc/um/latest/umdp.html.
