exceeded resource limits

Description

I'm now trying to run my job tewnb, which I created based on xlhub. However, it does not seem to run. When I try I get this message;

qsub: Job exceeds queue and/or server resource limits

I thought this might be due to the budget in the account but I got an advice that it isn't the case. Could you please help me identify the problem?

Thanks,
Masaru

Hi Masaru,

If you're doing an NRUN then in addition to switching reconfig on, you need to switch automatic resubmission off - on Input/Output? > Resubmission pattern page

HI Willie,

Thank you. I turned off automatic resubmission and tried again, but the result doesn't change. Can you think of any other problem?

walltime is currently set to 3600 sec. The result doesn't change if I change this to 600 sec. I haven't changed domain decomposition - it is set to 12x10. # MPI tasks per node is set to default which is 24. I once tried changing this to 12 but it didn't help.

Thanks.

Masuru

You have requested:

#PBS -q long
#PBS -l select=6
#PBS -l walltime=00:10:00

but (see ARCHER web pages)

Note: Jobs requiring less than 24 hours will not be accepted onto the long queue as these can run on the standard queue.

  • Resolution set to fixed
  • Status changed from new to closed

Hi Grenville,

OK, I tried to submit to both regular and long queues but it sounds like the submission to regular queue was actually overridden by the first line here. I had a hard time finding the switch in UMUI but finally found out that it was done by a hand edit. So I turned off that hand edit and the job was submitted OK. The run crashed but it is another problem. This issue is resolved.

Thank you.
Masaru
