Description (last modified by pmcguire)

I could not “setup canopy” in the command line on met-cluster, I was asked for a password??

And my python environment does not have pylab???

What are “pylab” and “ setup canopy”? and do I need them?

How can I get them?

Hi Noel:
I just spoke with Andy Heaps about this.
He suggests that on the met-cluster that you use 'his version of Python'. It has various python modules installed.
You can do this by typing:
export PATH="/home/users/swsheaps/anaconda2/bin:$PATH"

Then 'import pylab' should work inside of python.
Does this work?

Hi Noel:

Since setup canopy isn't working on met-cluster, maybe you can ask the met-cluster administrator for help with setup canopy. I am not sure who the met-cluster administrator is. Maybe it is Maria Broadbridge? Maybe Eric Mathieu? Or maybe you can call the University helpdesk at x6262?

Dear Noel Clancy,

26/07/2018 20:02 Maria Broadbridge:
Hi Noel!

There is no detail in your query so I am assuming that you are trying to use ipython on the cluster. 'setup' is no longer supported, you'll need to use the 'module' command instead. Have a look here on how to use it:
https://research.reading.ac.uk/act/knowledgebase/accessing-software-on-the-cluster/

Most of the python modules should have ipython in it, try 'module load python/canopy-2.1.3' for example.

I'll close this ticket but please let us know if you encounter any further problems.

Best wishes,
Maria
