Postproc timeout

Description

Is there any way to increase the walltime limit on the postprocessing part of a Rose job?

I find my Archer jobs quite regularly timeout before completion, which is annoying. The error log tells me that one hour is allocated for postproc and this has been exceeded, but I can’t find anywhere in the Rose job where this is set, nor in the scripts I have looked at. There is a time limit for the model itself running (which is much longer), bit not specifically for the postprocessing.

Thanks,

Alex

Hi Alex,

It will probably be set in the suite.rc or site/archer.rc file somewhere in the definition for the [[POSTPROC]] family. If you still can't find it let us know the suite id and we'll take a look.

Cheers,
Ros.

Thanks, Ros.

Where is site/archer.rc? I can't find it on puma or archer.

I also can't find anything that would appear to be relevant in /home/apm/roses/u-ba494/suite.rc.

Apologies for getting in touch in the first instance by email, rather than through the website, but I can't log on directly to the CEDA site. When I go to https://services.ceda.ac.uk/cedasite/myceda/user/ to log in, I get an error where it doesn't accept the authorisation certificate. On the other hand, if I go straight to the ticket url Grenville sent me, no problem.

Regards,

Alex

Hi Alex,

In suite.rc under the [[postproc]][[[directives]]] the walltime is set to 01:00:00 indicating 1 hour. Change this value to extend the wallclock.

Not all suites have the site/archer.rc file.

The NCAS CMS helpdesk and CEDA login are totally different systems with totally different login credentials.

Regards,
Ros.
