Description

Hi,

Do we get historical CMIP6 aerosol emissions from 1850 to 2014 on Archer? Could you please indicate me where I can find the emissions? Thanks.

Cheers,
zhen

Hi Zhen,

I sync the CMIP6 ancils from JASMIN to ARCHER every week. They end up in

/work/y07/y07/umshared/CMIP6_ANCIL

on ARCHER. I'm not sure about the contents though.

Hi Willie,

I found the some aerosols emissions files under '/work/y07/y07/umshared/CMIP6_ANCIL/data/ancils/n96e/timeseries_1850-2014/AerosolChemistryEmissions/v3 ' on Archer.
May I ask whether these files can be recognised by the HadGEM3 model directly? For example, the biomass burning of BC emissions get both in high level and low level in two separate files (i.e. BC_biomass_high_1849_2015_time_series.nc and BC_biomass_low_1849_2015_time_series.nc). But for cmip5 emissions, only the total BC emission is one file is used ('/work/y07/y07/umshared/ancil/atmos/n96e/ukca_emiss/cmip5/2000/v2 /ukca_emiss_BC_biomass.nc').
I am wondering if I have to do some pre-process of the emissions before them read by the HadGEM3 models. One more question is how can I make sure the emission files are read by the model correctly.
Many thanks.

Hi Zhen,

These are UM ancillary files and are designed to be read by the UM directly. Section 5.8 of the UM user guide refers.
