Netcdf ncdump on xcs-c

Reported by: m.couldrey Owned by: um_support
Component: NEXCS Keywords: netcdf, ncdump

UM Version:

I was trying to inspect some NEMO restart files on xcs-c (in /home/d00/macou/piControl/RESTARTS) using ncdump:
ncdump -h aq853o_25940101_restart.nc
But I get a "command not found" error:
If 'ncdump' is not a typo you can run the following command to lookup the package that contains the binary:

command-not-found ncdump

-bash: ncdump: command not found

I'm a little confused because I'm sure I've used ncdump before on nexcs (but perhaps that was before moving over from exvmsrose?). What would be the recommended way to inspect netcdf files in this way, do I need to set up netcdf myself on xcs-c? I see (using module avail) that some different versions of nco are available- do I need to module load on one of them?
Many thanks

Hi Matt,

Try loading the scientific tools environment:

module load scitools
