SSH error on Puma

Reported by: nfreychet Owned by: um_support
Component: PUMA Keywords:
Cc: Platform: PUMA
UM Version:

I am trying to start a umui job from Puma to ARCHER. But on Puma, it keep asking me to enter the Met Office Science Repository Service password everytime I log in. And then if I try to submit a job on ARCHER I have a permission denied.

I tried to run the ssh-add again but I have an error "Error connecting to agent: No such file or directory"

it's quite common to have to reenter your MOSRS password. If you've been able to use this in the past and nothing's changed, I'd look at the ssh issue first.

If I type ps -flu nfreychet into puma, I see two ssh-agents. If I were you, I'd kill these, delete the saved environment in the ~/.ssh/ directory, and then log out. When you log in again you should hopefully have a clean setup and you can add your id to this.

This is just the most obvious thing, but let me know if it doesn't work.

Hi Dave,

I did as suggested. I'm still asked to enter the MOSRS password all the time (before I only had to do it once a day or so), but at least now the connection to ARCHER is working so that's fine.

Thanks for the help.

I'm not sure how I can make the MOSRS password less annoying; perhaps if you don't need it for a particular session you can just enter enter without bothering to give the password.

If your jobs are running, can I close this query?

Yes you can close the ticket now. I'll deal with MOSRS another time :)
