Permission denied on ARCHER

Reported by: s1895566 Owned by: um_support
Component: ARCHER Keywords:

UM Version:

I tried to run a suite (u-bh127) on ARCHER but I received the permission denied error:

Permission denied (publickey,keyboard-interactive).

I checked the following:

  1. I have resources on ARCHER
  2. .ssh/ on PUMA and .ssh/authorized_keys on ARCHER are identical
  3. I can ssh to ARCHER from PUMA without typing any passphrase

Any idea what would have caused the problem? Thanks!

I think that you have 3 ssh-agents running. The 1st thing to do is to kill them all and start again. There are instructions to kill them here:

Then log out, and when you log in again, a new agent should be set up. You can add your keys to this, and check that there's only one agent running.

If this doesn't work, let me know,

I followed your instruction and there is only 1 ssh agent running, and I am able to log into ARCHER without passphrase. However, I still got the same error.

So to just confirm:

if you are on PUMA and type:

you get into ARCHER. And if instead you type:

ssh -oBatchMode=yes bash --login -c 'ls'

you can see the contents of your home directory?

I get into ARCHER when I type

and when I type

ssh -oBatchMode=yes bash --login -c 'ls'

I see contents of my home directory in ARCHER, which contains one folder named 'umui_runs'.

But if you type the commands that I gave (i.e. without your username in) you get "permission denied"?

If so, could you add this to your ~/.ssh/config

Host archer
    User kalongau

Host login*
    User kalongau

and try to ssh to archer without specifying the username. I think that your suite is set up to not give the username.

I have just done that and it seems that the 'permission denied' problem has been resolved. Thank you for that.

However, I bumped into another error message when I tried to run the suite (u-bh127).

bash: rose: command not found

You need to set up your ~/.profile on ARCHER. You should add:

. /work/y07/y07/umshared/bin/rose-um-env

to source things.
