fcm commit error : username problem?

Reported by: pringle Owned by: um_support
Component: MOSRS Keywords: mosrs-caching

UM Version:

Hi there.

I am new to rose, and would like to commit the changes I have made to suite u-bj527.

I did have my name set incorrectly to KirstyPringle? rather than kirstypringle in the

files. But I have now corrected this to all lowercase. But I still get an error when I try to commit (see below).

Is there anywhere else that the username might be incorrect?

Hi Kirsty
I had a similar problem recently when I had a different owner than myself in rose-suite.info .

Hi Kirsty,

I don't think you will be able to commit to this suite at all as it has been created in the MOSRS repository with the username "KirstyPringle". There is a default rule that says only the owner can commit to a suite (i.e. it will see "kirstypringle" as being a different user). You will need to re-copy u-bi943 and apply your changes again.

I thought the Met Office had put a fix in to stop suites being created with the capitalisation, but it appears not. I will check with them.

Hi Ros and Patrick,

Many thanks for your help.

David Matthews (Met Office) suggested I might still have the incorrect setting in a file in this directory, which has fixed the problem.

I think the Met Office have some way to spot people if the name is with capitals (they emailed me), which is helpful.

Many thanks for your help,

Hi Kirsty,

Glad you've managed to sort it out. Good to know that the Met Office are able to detect this situation.

I shall close this query now.
