Description

Dear CMS helpdesk,

I am now running a simulation with UM but I have a problem in setting up the directory for model output. In my suite, the default path for output is controlled by $DATAM. This is set up in the suite.rc profile. It is further controlled by

DATAM = $CYLC_SUITE_SHARE_DIR/data/{{DATAM}}/{{resnname?}}

But I can’t find where $CYLC_SUITE_SHARE_DIR is set up. It seems it’s hard coded somewhere but I don't know how to change it. Please could someone help me with this?

My suite ID is u-bl384 and I am using Metoffice HPC for simulation. Thank you very much!

This is an environment variable which will be used by Cylc. It will resolve to be something like ~/cylc-run/<suite name>/share .

Do you mind if I ask why you wish to change it? I can maybe give advice then.

Hi Dave,

Thanks. As you said, this env variable is something like ~/cylc-run/<suite name>/share. I found this after I ran the suite. The problem for me is that it directs to my home directory, where I do not have enough space. Therefore, I want to change the default output directory on my nexcs-n06 space. My directory on nexcs-n06 is /projects/nexcs-n06/jifgu. Can you help me to change the default output directory?

You can edit the rose-suite.conf file to have

root-dir{share}=*=/projects/nexcs-n06/$USER
root-dir{work}=*=/projects/nexcs-n06/$USER

and then the link should resolve here. If it doesn't work then let me know the suite name.

Hi Dave,

It has some problem to start running the suite with the new lines added in rose-suite.conf. Something related with the new lines.

My suite ID is u-bl384. Thanks!

You should put those lines at the top of the file, above the [jinja2:suite.rc] bit

We will get this running by the weekend!
