Changing the SST file in ROSE

Reported by: simon.tett Owned by: um_support

Description

Hopefully a dumb question.. How do I change the SST (or any other ancillary file) in rose. The obvious "namelists" point to env variables.

My rose suite is u-bo595

u-bo595 has no metadata - maybe you have it locally? I'm struggling to answer your question without metadata. Where did this suite come from?

HI Grenville,

I do not understand the metadata point likely reflecting my ignorance of ROSE. But tracking back through the provenance from Christophe's runs) I think the source is u-av674 (owned by Peal Earnshaw).

Does that help?

Hi Simon

My mistake - I opened u-bo595 on PUMA (failing to note that the ticket said running on monsoon).

Navigate to um→namelist→Reconfiguration and Ancillary control→configure ancils and initialise dump fields, where ancils can be specified for reconf. or updating

Hi Grenville,

thanks. Done that — Do I edit by changing the value in the namelist with the odd name? Christophe also emailed me the information that he had edited the config file:

~/roses/u-bo595/app/um/opt/rose-app-gregorian.conf to set the name of the SST file explicitly.

Should I edit the config file or am I better editing through rose?

Simon
p.s. How do I run xconv on Monsoon? It is not in my path..

Simon

With the gregorian optional override, change the ancil in ~/roses/u-bo595/app/um/opt/rose-app-gregorian.conf (optional overrides are a bit like hand edits - unfortunately.)

xconv lives in $UMDIR/bin on Monsoon.

Hi Grenville,

that's a pain — or rather a step backwards from the UMUI. Reflects one's most common edits I imagine.

Anyhow, thanks — I did edit file and got expected behaviour — a crash!
