#3093 new help

Submitting revised suite without changing code - won't submit

Description

Hello,

I'm having trouble resubmitting my suite u-bo845 (UKESM1-A for making a PPE) from pumatest.

Sometimes the suite will resubmit without error. I can do this without needing to run the "Build UM" task, since I'm changing aspects of the suite, not the code. However, sometimes the suite won't run and gives the error:

[FAIL] ssh -oBatchMode=yes -n login3.archer.ac.uk env\ ROSE_VERSION=2019.01.0\ CYLC_VERSION=7.8.1\ bash\ -l\ -c\ \'\"$0\"\ \"$@\"\'\ rose\ suite-run\ -vv\ -n\ u-bo845\ —run=run\ —remote=uuid=75c24c08-4f1e-49b6-9a67-d51555a7592f,now-str=20191128T135129Z,root-dir=\'$DATADIR\' # return-code=2, stderr=

[FAIL] [FAIL] 2019-11-28T13:52:10+0000 tar -czf log.20191127T112320Z.tar.gz log.20191127T112320Z # return-code=2, stderr=
[FAIL] [FAIL] 2019-11-28T13:52:10+0000 tar: log.20191127T112320Z.tar.gz: Cannot write: Broken pipe
[FAIL] [FAIL] 2019-11-28T13:52:10+0000 tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now

This cannot be rectified by logging out/in to refresh my Met Office password. I've checked I can log into ARCHER from pumatest without the need for password or passphrase.

So far, the only solution I have to this problem is to turn the "Build UM" task back on and run:
rose suite-run —new

but this isn't efficient. I'm going to be using this suite to make a large ensemble of several hundred simulations. I've had to copy the u-bo845 folder on ARCHER so as not to lose the contents of the first set of runs.

Is there an obvious cause of this type of error?

Thanks,

Leighton

Leighton

I get the same problem from time to time - I have not found the cause. I just delete the log file. I've never had to do a —new run.

Grenville,

Thanks for the advice. I deleted log files on both ARCHER and PUMATEST. Did I needed to do both?

Avoiding the model build is a great saving.

Cheers,

Leighton

Just ARCHER for me

Thanks Grenville,

I've discovered I've got to delete pumatest files as well since they contain information from each ensemble member that consumes space.

I'm happy for this ticket to be closed when you're ready.

Cheers,

Leighton.
