#3111 closed error (answered)

Module 'scitools' is currently not loaded

Reported by: luciad Owned by: ros
Component: UM Model Keywords: scitools
Cc: Platform: ARCHER
UM Version: 11.1

I am trying to run a new application python code within a suite (u-bo228) on Archer, that takes some of the atmos_main output diagnostics and regrids them on a new grid. But I get the error:

ModuleCmd_Switch.c(179):ERROR:152: Module 'scitools' is currently not loaded
[FAIL] env=model_files: DATETIME: unbound variable

Could you help me solve this problem?

Hi Lucia,

scitools is Met Office specific. Please comment out/remove the line that loads scitools. Run it again and we'll see what error message you get. We can then advise on any environment settings required for ARCHER.

Also please let us know what the suite task name is that is failing.

Try replacing the scitools line in the suite.rc file with module load anaconda to give you the python environment on ARCHER.

Hi Ros,

I am currently having issues with loading iris, even though I changed "module load anaconda" in the suite.rc

ImportError?: No module named iris

The suite is u-bo228 and the suite task is app_postproc (a python script for extracting data along flight tracks)

Thank you for your help,

Hi Lucia,

We don't have a central Iris installation on ARCHER. Unfortunately my personal installation from a while ago is no longer working so I can only suggest getting your own miniconda (See and installing Iris into it.

I assume you were able to use miniconda ok and that this ticket can now be closed.
