The error occurs in atmos_main.
The suite was running fine, until I changed the calendar from 360 day to Gregorian calendar and the cycle frequency from 10 days to 1 month.

I do not understand why I get this error, since I haven't modified anything else in the suite.

Could you please advise on this?

Thank you,
Lucia

Hi Lucia

I think maybe the suite assumes you would having climate meaning turned on when using the Gregorian calendar. If you don't want to do this try editing file app/um/opt/rose-app-gregorian.conf, in your rose suite on puma, and change ppselectim=1,1,1,0 to !!ppselectim=1,1,1,0.

Hi Lucia

The problem here seems to be with the UKCA emissions netcdf files being the wrong calendar type. I'm not an expert on UKCA but hopefully some one who is can help with this.

Hi Jeff,

Could you redirect this ticket to Mohit Dalvi? He has already helped Leighton Regayre fix his problem with the Gregorian calendar, and we are working on the same project.

Thank you,
Lucia

  • Cc mohit.dalvi@… added

Hi Lucia

I've added Mohit to the Cc field so he should see this query.

Thanks Jeff!

Lucia, It is not so easy to convert an UM suite to Gregorian calendar with climate meaning (irrespective of having UKCA/ Nudging), see the steps involved here for modifying an UKESM1-AMIP suite to 365-day and use Nudging.

As your suite is derived from the same UKESM1-AMIP configuration, I would recommend starting from the Nudged ARCHER suite (u-bm251). However, Leighton has managed to retro-fit the changes to his PPI suite, so he can guide you in implementing thse.
