Description

Hi Patrick

I have another question on ANTS, Patrick!

Have you ever configured ants.config?
https://code.metoffice.gov.uk/doc/ancil/ants/latest/ANTS/ants.config.html?highlight=ants.config#module-ants.config

I would like to define myself the x_split,y_split parameters, but I can’t find any good example of how to do that.

Thanks for your help!

Benoit

Hi Benoit
I don't have any experience doing that.
Have you looked at the ANTS suite for external MONSOON u-bv358? That's the one I got working, based upon Martin Best's suite that works on the internal MONSOON. Maybe there's some example in there of what you want to do?

You might raise a ticket on the CMS helpdesk. Maybe someone can answer your question there.

Hi Patrick

I finally managed to do that.
It was simple but it is not well documented: I specified ants.config.CONFIG[‘x_split’].
It is a very nice way to compute in a piecewise manner a large operation on a cube that would be causing a segmentation fault otherwise.

So far, I have used this decomposition on 1 core, sequentially. A nice addition for future use would be to do this decomposition in parallel using the par-multi queue of slurm. I tried that, but I am not sure it works well because the wall clock time of the job does not change much.

Cheers
Benoit

Hi Benoit
I am glad you got it working.
Can I create a CMS Helpdesk ticket on your behalf, for this?
That way if anybody else has questions like this, then they can find the info there.
