GA7 Recon in KPP suite

Hi CMS,

I'm attempting to set up the KPP-South East Asia suite that Annette ported from Monsoon for TerraMaris? to run with the GA7 configuration. I've successfully changed the domain to a coarser grid and switched on the EC boundary conditions, and I've applied the GA7 optional configuration from the same version of the nesting suite.

I'm getting the following error from the recon:
RCF Locate:
Unable to RCF_Locate field with STASHcode 0 216

However, Stash code 216 (fraction of surface types) is being initialised from an ancillary file using an items namelist. This is referenced earlier in the log file, too.

My suite is u-bx923, and the companion nesting suite I've used to create the ancillary files and copy the ga7 config is u-by081.

Could you please advise me on how to proceed?

Hi Emma,

Claudio told me that the ECMWF driving didn't work in this suite, but maybe you know more about this than me.

Anyway I will look at your recon error.

Hi Annette,

I had to modify the suite a bit to make the ECMWF driver work, using the Claudio's online instructions for the nesting suite.

I've also noticed that I get the same error when I set up the version 11.1 nesting suite identically to the coupled suite (GA7+EC driver). I know that the version 11.4 nesting suite works with this configuration, so Nick has suggested that I try to upgrade the KPP suite to this version. Should I close this ticket while I try that?

Hi Emma,

I did have a look and I can't see why the recon doesn't work, other than there might be an issue with reconfiguring the ECMWF dump on Archer.

It sounds like a good idea to upgrade to a nesting suite config that you know works. You can reopen the ticket or make a new one if you still have problems.
