Disk quota exceeded when running UM on HECToR

Hi, I am running a UM simulation, vn4.5, on HECToR. The model outputs are being copied to the n02 workspace and to the ARCH directory from where they are being archived. The run has crashed with the following error in the leave file:

Is the problem that the n02 workspace is full? According to my SAFE account on HECToR there should still be a bit of memory free.

Hello Andrew,

you have exceeded your /work allocation so I have increased this. It is always a problem with the archive mechanism that you need a bit extra disk allocation to cope with the fact that the ARCH directory is only sent to archive once per day.

Please resubmit your run and let me know if you are still having problems.

Thanks for your reply.
Do I have a personal disk quota on /work ? And if so how can I find out its size and what percentage I have used.

Yes Andrew all n02 account users have a personal allocation on /work. To look at your personal usage you can use SAFE at HECToR. Log onto the SAFE web page and then you should be able to click on the view button in the 'Your User Accounts' section. This will give you a summary of your allocation and usage but be aware the usage is only updated once per day.

Hi Lois,

Thanks for increasing my personal disk quota.
However my run has now stopped again with another disk quota allowance error. According to the SAFE on HECToR web page I still have a large quantity of personal disk space free. Is this a problem with the n02 allowance, my personal allowance or something else?

Hello Andrew,

This is a group allocation problem. I have sent out an email to all HECToR users to try to get more headroom as we are so very close to our group allocation limit. The system is only refresh once per day so it may be tomorrow before we feel the effect.

I am sorry for this inconvenience - it really is unsatisfactory to be so limited by something as trivial as disk space.
