Absence of Land Mask output

Description

Hi,

I am running a couple of jobs where, for some reason unbeknownst to me, the Land Sea Mask isnt being created despite having it turned on in my stash. What am I missing here? One of the jobs in question is xenoi (you have full permissions). Any help much appreciated.

Thanks, Andy

Hi Willie,

You now have permission; its in my work directory, then /UMDumps/AP040310_ECMWF/040310.astart

It should be noted however that I have used this start dump before and succesfully outputted a land sea mask.

Cheers, Andy

  • Component changed from Data to Diagnostics
  • Keywords STASH added

Hi Andy,

In your STASH domain definition (domain DS) , you have selected a subset of the model area. If you change this to "Full Model Area", the land-sea masks will be produced. On the STASH page, Edit Profile > Edit Domain and then push the HORIZ button.

Willie

Hi Willie,

Yes I specified the subset region to keep the size of the files down whilst keeping the domain adequately large for my run. So are you saying that the land mask is not able to be output for that subset region alone - it can only be output for the whole domain. That seems strange, seeing as all other diagnostics appear to be ok with the smaller region.

Hi Andy,

I would guess that the land-sea mask is treated differently from other diagnostics because it plays such an important role in the STASH system, controlling the calculation of other diagnostics. I may be wrong. When I used the full model area, it did produce the land-sea masks.

I hope that helps.

Willie
