Starting up on MONSooN

Hi,

I now have a Monsoon account, and would like to start using it. Is there any info / a tutorial (Ive had a quick look and cant find one on the ncas website) you can give me on how to get started. I have been running on hector up until now.

Hi Andy,

In order to submit UM jobs to MONSooN you must have set up ssh correctly. Please follow the instructions on the NCAS-CMS website on the MONSooN HPC page:

​http://ncas-cms.nerc.ac.uk/index.php/monsoon/1471-ssh-setup

Once this is set up correctly you can go ahead and submit jobs.

Further useful information on using MONSooN is available on the Met Office collaboration twiki, details of which, I believe, are in your MONSooN information/introduction document.

I notice on this ticket you've said UM Version 7.1 - this is not available on MONSooN. Only 7.x versions 7.3 and newer are installed.

In additon; If you're taking a job that you have run on HECToR, then obviously you will need to change username and target machine (ibm00) in the UMUI General details, Target machine windows. Also change job submission method from "pbs" to "loadleveller". Any variables that are set to paths on HECToR, like DATAW, DATAM and the FCM Extracts directory will also need to be modified.
