Description

Hi, I just have a couple of problems relating to the UM.

  1. My user and password will not log me onto the UMhelpdesk

(http://ncas-cms.nerc.ac.uk/trac/UMHelpdesk) - do I need a different one
to get on to this?

  1. I am trying to submit a job on pumi (xfwne) and I get the following

error message:

Initialising SUBMIT...
Writing remote commands file...
Calling FCM_MAIN_SCR - local...
(This may take several minutes.)

FCM_MAIN: Calling Extract ...
Base extract: failed
FCM_MAIN: Extract failed
FCM_MAIN stopped with return code 25
Job submission failed

it is the first time I have run a job on monsoon, but the job itself it
copied from Scott Osprey (user: sosprey) which works on his system.

Have you any idea what is wrong here?

Hi Dann,

You need to create yourself a $HOME/.fcm file on PUMA containing the following 2 lines:

inc ~um/fcm/etc/um_tutorial_revisions.cfg
inc ~um/fcm/etc/um_revisions.cfg

For MONSooN you will also need to make sure that ssh is setup correctly by following the instructions on the MONSooN page: http://ncas-cms.nerc.ac.uk/index.php/monsoon/1471-ssh-setup, I can't tell if you've already done this, so obviously ignore this if you have.

We recommend, if you've not used FCM before, that you work through the UM Tutorial first, as it includes details of the things that first need to be setup in your environment to use FCM.

When you registered for the UM FCM system you used your Reading email address which can be changed by logging into either the tutorial or live UM Trac and clicking on the "Preferences" link in the top right hand corner. If you can't remember your password for the UM Trac systems let me know and I'll reset your account.

Hopefully with the creation of your .fcm file submission will work ok. If the extract fails error information, which may help diagnose the problem, can be found in your ~/um/um_extracts/xfwne/umbase/ext.out (or ummodel/ext.out) file on PUMA.
