UMUI font size problem

Description

Hello,

I was wondering if you might be able to help me with this problem:

I am trying to open the UMUI on PUMA over ssh from my computer (which is running newly-installed Ubuntu Unity 11.10). The UMUI window opens fine, but the font size is so big that the UMUI is unusable (see attached screenshot). (ssh -Y or -X both have the same problem.)

X-forwarding itself seems to work fine for other things e.g. emacs.

I've tried installing these extra fonts:
gsfonts-x11,
xfonts-100dpi,
xfonts-75dpi,
but that hasn't helped.

Do you have any ideas of how I could fix this?

Many thanks,

Rosalind

Just to say help is no longer required!
On restarting the computer with the newly-installed fonts, the problem has gone away :)

Hi Rosalind

Good to hear you fixed your problem yourself. Just to say there is another way to fix it, you can modify what fonts are used by using a ~/.ghui_appearance file, see /home/jeff/.ghui_appearance_puma and /home/jeff/.ghui_appearance_win for examples. The win file was written to fix large fonts when starting the umui from a windows X-server and should also work when getting large fonts on linux. There is also an equivalent file for the umui windows (~/.umui_appearance).

Jeff.

Just to say that I just had this problem, but the good news is that Jeff's ghui appearance still works!
