NDdiag problems

Reported by: g.n.petersen@… Owned by: jeff

UM Version:

I'm having my first attempts using NDdiag and, alas, I'm having problems.
My pp-file is xcmiha_pa000, a 12h job
The file looks OK in xconv and contains all the variables that NDdiag needs on model levels.

When I run NDdiag the message I get is that it has Problems reading from file, see below.
Any ideas what NDdiag isn't happy about? Is there a problem with the variables being on model levels but not pressure levels? I've kept the default header in NDdiag.CONTROL and the only changes I've made to run_NDdiag is to change the NDdiagBASEDIR.

e607@envgnp1:~/Forrit> ./run_NDdiag infile
executable file name is NDdiag_Linux

Input file is: infile

Hi Nina

I'm no expert on NDdiag but I believe the input files have to be 32 bit pp files. Is your file straight from the UM? What does xconv think the file type is? If it is a UM file you can convert it to pp format with the utility um2pp, this is available on hpcx is that the machine you are using?
To convert type

um2pp xcmiha_pa000 xcmiha_pa000.pp

I hope this helps.

Thanks, Jeff.

I hadn't realized that we were talking pp files not UM files.
