IP address in /etc/hosts.deny

Reported by: tedwards Owned by: ros
Component: PUMA Keywords: IP blocked
Cc: Platform:
UM Version:

Hi helpdesk,

I am working on the UPSCALE project on hermit along with a group at the Met Office. HLRS restrict access to hermit to specific IPs for each user and I was advised to use puma's for this project. I have therefore been logging into puma to gain access to hermit from my office in Edinburgh University and from my home broadband connection.

However, last night I found I couldn't connect from my home broadband as the IP address is in the /etc/hosts.deny list on puma for sshd (I can still log in to puma from a Cray server in the US). Have I violated a policy somehow which has resulted in the blacklisting?

Many thanks and apologies if I have done anything wrong.

Kind regards,
