Problem submitting job to HECTOR

Hi,

I am having a problem submitting a job (xgwii) to HECTOR. My connection seems to hang and I dont know why!

I did make a change to my ssh profile on HECTOR where I followed the instructions here (http://puma.nerc.ac.uk/trac/UM_TUTORIAL/wiki/Ros/sshAgent) but made it so that I could connect to my computer at work.

I dont get any errors (that I can see) just the UMUI windows freeze!

Any ideas??

Hi Alex,

Not knowing exactly what change you made to your ssh profile on HECToR it's hard to say, but I suspect you may have messed up the ssh-keys.

Can you please run the following command to check that you can login to HECToR from PUMA without it prompting for a passphrase or password?

ssh ata27@phase3.hector.ac.uk

If it does prompt for passphrase or password then your ssh-agent is not set up properly. If you are prompted for your passphrase try running "ssh-add" on PUMA. If that doesn't help let me know and I'll suggest some other things to try.

Hi Ros,

Unfortunately I get prompted for a passphrase and when I try ssh-add I get an error saying "Could not open a connection to your authentication agent"

Hi Alex,

Ok it looks like your ssh-agent has stopped running on PUMA. Try removing the file
/home/ata27/.ssh/environment.puma on PUMA and then log out and log back in again. You will hopefully see a message something along the lines of "re-initialising ssh-agent", you should then be able to run ssh-add successfully.
